What is Ptosis?
Ptosis is the separation of the levator muscle tendon from the upper eyelid causing the appearance of droopy or baggy eyelids. This may occur as a result of aging, eye surgery, an eye injury or because of an eye lid tumor. Sometimes it can occur as a complication from other diseases such as diabetes.
As in a blepharochalasis, ptosis can block the upper field of one’s vision and need repair. While the exact procedure is not done, the surgery to repair the ptosis also raises the upper lid to improve both visual performance and appearance.
