Noaman Sanni, M.D.

Dr. Noaman Sanni completed his ophthalmology residency at the prestigious University of Chicago Hospitals where he had the honor of being selected as Chief Resident.  He went on to do his Cornea and Refractive Surgery Fellowship under some of the pioneers in the field at St. Louis University, Anheuser-Busch Eye Institute.  Before starting in ophthalmology, Dr. Sanni completed three years of training in internal medicine.  Dr. Sanni was one of the first surgeons performing Lasik and Intacs in the Syracuse and Watertown areas.  His fellowship in refractive surgery gives Dr. Sanni a distinct advantage over other surgeons in the area.

Dr. Sanni is Board Certified in Ophthalmology.  He is a member of several professional organizations such as the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Academy of Cornea and Refractive Surgery, American Medical Association, Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, Chicago Ophthalmological Society, St. Louis Ophthalmological Society, Medical Society of Jefferson County and Medical Society of the State of New York.  Dr. Sanni is on staff at Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown, and also on staff at the Lewis County General Hospital, Lowville, Carthage Area Hospital, Carthage, and Claxton-Hepburn medical Center in Ogdensburg.

Debra A. Koloms, M.D.

Dr. Debra Koloms completed her ophthalmology residency at the prestigious Loyola/Hines University where she had the honor of being a representative to the Chicago Medical Society. She has provided missionary work as a volunteer of F.O.C.U.S. in Nigeria. Dr. Koloms has vast experience in the medical and surgical treatment of all eye disorders. Her surgical experience includes a large number of cataract extractions, corneal transplants, strabismus, glaucoma, refractive, and LASIK procedures.

Dr. Koloms is Board Certified in Ophthalmology. She is a member of several professional organizations such as The American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Medical Association, Medical Society of Jefferson County, and the Medical Society of the State of New York. Dr. Koloms is on staff at Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown, Lewis County General Hospital, Lowville, Carthage Area Hospital, Carthage and EJ Noble Hospital in Gouverneur.

Shafiq Jivanjee, M.D.

Dr. Jivanjee is a graduate of Tufts University School of Medicine.  He completed his Ophthalmology residency at the Albany Medical Center, Lions Eye Institute in Albany, New York.  He received his fellowship training in glaucoma from the New York Presbyterian Hospital of Cornell, Columbia, New York, New York.

Dr. Jivanjee is the only glaucoma specialist north of Syracuse.  Dr. Jivanjee brings with him a new innovation to the area of glaucoma with valve replacement.  He is on staff at Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown, Lewis County Hospital, Lowville, Carthage Area Hospital, Carthage and Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center in Ogdensburg.

Manijeh Contractor, M.D.

Dr. Manijeh Contractor completed her Ophthalmology Residency at University of Texas-Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, where she also received her fellowship training in Neuro Ophthalmology. She has also been a fellow in Ocular Oncology at the University of Toronto, in Canada.

Dr. Contractor brings over 20 years of clinical and surgical experience in the treatment of retinal diseases. She has been trained in management of Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) and administration of Intravitreal Injection in Boston, MA.

She is a dedicated member of several professional organizations such as American Academy of Ophthalmology, Association for Research and Vision in Ophthalmology and American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.

Grace Y. Burke, O.D.

Dr. Grace Burke received her Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from Emmanuel College in Boston and her Doctor of Optometry from the New England College of Optometry in Boston. Dr. Burke has worked as a Senior Research Assistant in Basic Ocular Research at Harvard Medical School as well as in the field of Neurobiology at Tufts New England Medical Center. Dr. Burke is a contact lens specialist. She has conducted Phase III Clinical FDA contact lens trials and is also FDA certified in corneal refractive therapy.

Dr. Burke is a member of several professional organizations such as the American Optometric Association, New York Optometric Association, Northern New York Optometric Association, and Massachusetts Optometric Association. She has served as President of the Northern Optometry Association and currently serves on the New York Optometry Board.

Jonathan Ludlow, O.D.

Dr. Jonathan P. Ludlow graduated from Thousand Island High School in 1989.  He then attended SUNY at Oneonta where he received his bachelor's degree before moving to Chicoago, where he graduated in 1999 from the Illinois College of Optometry.  He completed his optometric rotations in both the Newington, CT and Brooklyn, NY veteran's hospitals.  He has been practicing in the Northern New York area since 1999.  He resides near Lake Ontario in Clayton where he grew up with his wife and two children.  Dr. Ludlow enjoys boating and golfing and spending time with this family.

Ritu Bajaj, O.D.

Dr. Ritu Bajaj, received her degree in Optometry from the Elite School of Optometry in India and completed her internship at Sankara Nethralaya in India. She went on to complete course work toward Masters Program in clinical optometry with emphasis in Glaucoma.

While in India, Dr. Bajaj was involved in teaching optometry students, ophthalmology residents and ophthalmic assistants. She was internship director of the Elite School of Optometry.

Dr. Bajaj completed her Doctorate of Optometry degree at the New England College of Optometry, Boston, Massachusetts and clinical externships at the Dimock Community Health Center and The New England Eye Institute in Boston. She then completed an advanced clinical training in Ocular Diseases and management at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, Miami, Florida, (ranked as the US’s #1 eye hospital) where she graduated with honors in clinical skills.

She completed Fellowship in Clinical Optometry and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. She was selected among America’s Top Optometrists by the Consumer’s Research Council of America. Dr. Bajaj has served as clinical examiner for the National Board of Examiners in Optometry. Her clinical interests include specialty contact lens fitting, Glaucoma management, retinal electrophysiology, surgical co-management, Pediatric and community eye care and optometric education.

Mark Hershowitz, O.D.

Dr. Hershowitz is a therapeutic optometrist born and raised in Philadelphia, Pa. He attended University of Pa. and received his Bachelor's degree in biology. He then attended the Pa. College of Optometry where he received numerous honors as one of the top students in his graduating class.

His 25 years of experience has given him a chance to excel in treatment and management of ocular disease, and fitting contact lenses for very difficult patients who have corneal disease. He was an instructor for incoming residents at Wills Eye Hospital (one of the top rated eye hospitals in the country) and participated in the investigational use of new materials of gas permeable contact lenses.
