What is BOTOX® Cosmetic ?
Botulinum Toxin Type A (BOTOX®) is a purified protein that has successfully been used therapeutically for such conditions as migraines, muscle spasms and contractions of the eye area for over 15 years.  BOTOX® is also approved for use in more than 75 countries world wide.  BOTOX® Cosmetic was approved, with dosage specifications to the glabellar lines in 2002, and continues to be one of the most popular, most satisfactory,  and least expensive non-surgical cosmetic treatments offered by physicians.

Facial expressions from laughing, frowning, and even concentrating can cause wrinkles.  This is due to overactive facial muscles. BOTOX® Cosmetic is injected into the muscle blocking the chemical the causes the facial muscles to contract, relaxing them and smoothing out the wrinkle site. 

Procedure and results
The process is a simple, non-invasive, non-surgical procedure which takes approximately 10-20 minutes.  There is no recuperation period and very little, if any discomfort or side effects.  Several tiny injections of small doses are made into the facial muscles at sites chosen by the physician.  Normal activities may be resumed immediately after.  There maybe some mild swelling or minimal redness; however, these typically resolve by the next day.  Visible results are almost immediate and when administered by a licensed and trained healthcare professional, should last up to four months.
